Prime Cowhides origins date back to 1889, when the great grandparents of the current owners started up the business which is considered, as of today, the most renowned company in the tanning of hair on hides in Colombia. Back then, tanning was made using pools as the current processes to perform chrome tanning through wooden barrels were not available. This process, which is the norm today, ensures cowhides quality during for years. Since then, the family business has diversified, getting into cattle breeding in different farms throughout the country which allows us to provide our clients with products from different breeds for multiple purposes. As an example, we owned Los Tres Potrillos farm located in Armenia, Quindío, one of the main centers of the Colombian Coffee Region and the so-called Paisa region, where its mild weather is ideal for Normande cattle breeding, used both for meat as for leather production.
